You may be looking for New Caledonia and not even know it!

Vanuatu, officially the Republic of Vanuatu (Bislama: Ripablik blong Vanuatu, French: République de Vanuatu), is a country in Oceania. Like Fiji, people from Australia and New Zealand like to go snorkelling there. Although you can easily get there by plane, everybody goes on a cruise to get there. Unlike its neighbour the Solomon Islands, the government actually cares about other countries and doesn't threaten its national security. It is officially the brother nation of New Caledonia. The downside of going there is that some people there eat bats!
