Welcome[edit source]
Hello, MelkorDCLXVI, and welcome to Uncyclopedia! I can see from your contributions that you're already trying to make yourself at home. Well... umm... there's a right way and a wrong way to do that. Not that I'm implying anything about your... valued input, but you might want to read these links:
How to be funny and not just stupid - The guide aimed at turning newbies like you into solid Uncyclopedia contributors, it uses a patented formula to inject its readers with a solid sense of humor and flush out any traces of lame internet humor out of their brains. It works. Trust me.
The Five Pliers - The five pliers (yes, pliers) that Uncyclopedia was built with. They're still useful even after the construction.
Uncyclopedia:Best of - Says it all. Our best articles. Read them if you want a little inspiration.
Want help?[edit source]
If all this feels a bit overwhelming, feel free to ask for help. We're on IRC at #uncyclopedia nearly 24/7 (as noted here, we never do sleep), so hop on if you want a little help with your latest article. Or, if you're serious and want a pro to guide you every step of the way, just put {{adoptme}} in your userspace. Someone out there will notice. Seriously, if you put yourself up for adoption, people will want to help you.
Writing articles[edit source]
So you've read HTBFANJS and want to start writing? Well, here are two brief, but important, tips:
- Write it at [[User:MelkorDCLXVI/<article name here>]]. Putting it in your own userspace means that you can work on it as long as you want without someone editing it or (*gasp!*) deleting it. Or,
- Add a construction template to it. This isn't recommended, as it only works for seven days before it expires and an admin can delete it, but you can add {{construction}} to it and people won't edit it or (for a while) delete it.
Other links[edit source]
Finally, here are some other pages that you might find useful:
Special:Watchlist - You can add pages to your watchlist by clicking the "Watch" tab on the top, then check back here to see if someone edited it. UN:VFD - The VFD (Votes for Deletion) page is where sub-par articles go to have users decide on their fate. For now, interview them on the deathrow and learn from their mistakes.
UN:QVFD - This is for when a page is so horribly short/vain/unfunny that it can just be deleted on sight.
UN:VFH - This is where we decide which articles are featured on the front page. Most of what's here are examples of how to write. Otherwise, they wouldn't be there!
Bye![edit source]
Other than that, just remember to sign your name when you post on a talk page. Do this by typing four tildes, like so: ~~~~. If you want a more fancy signature, like some of us have, read this.
Have fun,
