UnNews:Chuckle Brothers in Iraq[edit source]
My first submission, seems to be well received, but as it's my first one I'd welcome any reviews. I wasn't overly happy with the formatting, any advice on how to get that better gratefully received (I do know HTML, I just want to be able to embed the picture better....any templates people have would be good).

Humour: | 7 | The idea of my favourite kids show duo being in the middle of a warzone fills my cheeks with joy. However, the best part of the article is pretty much the headline, the image and some of the prose. |
Concept: | 7 | Sky does produce some ridiculous shows. It can only be remedied by a ridculous duo! It was good to suggest another show, based in Pyongyang, however I was repelled slightly by Ant and Dec. Why not Blue Peter? It is a good concept, but it is almost as if the blood has been drained and no more can be done after the headline. |
Prose and formatting: | 5 | Did what it needed to do. My concerns are minute, but they inter me from passing this off as a 'real' news article. For example, "(the thinner, older one)" is unnecessary, it's like writing a report on Gordon Brown at some G8 meeting and identifying him as "(the British, short one)". Also, you put "Chuckle vision" instead of what I would've put: "ChuckleVision". The content of the article is also rather small, it's almost trying to lean on the headline for humour. The "MoD Spokesman" was rather too personal in his quotes and edged more towards ridiculousness, as hs second quote implies that he's a soldier on the front line as well. However, considering the Chuckle Brothers is a revered cult among all respected British people with a love for nostalgia, it was clever to add their famous catchphrases in some way. |
Images: | 7.5 | While it was good to provide one (And it is helpful if an UnNews article has at least one image), my only concern that the heads are obviously alien to the reality of the picture, not to mention the lack of helmets. I'm no PhotoShop artist, but I can spot evidence of implementation around the edges of the heads, particularly around the hair. But, I'm giving it a decent score anyway, as you chose a good picture to 'shop (considering the heights) and the brothers are smiling so brilliantly it personifies the humour of the article |
Miscellaneous: | 6 | Given that TV channels are trying to best one another with similar shows (Strictly Come Dancing on Ice!), the link with that to this article is evident. However, not much more can be said on Misc. |
Final Score: | 32.5 | I certainly wouldn't discourage you from writing more UnNews articles. ChuckleVision meets Iraq is an intriguing idea, but it falls into the category of not being able to give it any more content after the headline. However, you met standards of a news article, the appropiate headline, image, quotes, real organisation names (Sky, BBC, MoD, etc) and so on, but it just needed that little extra content to produce a fantastic UnNews article. |
