Given name [edit source]

Humour: 3 Needs more jokes; I can find only one and it doesn't make sense.
Concept: 5 It is a reasonable subject for an article.
Prose and formatting: 1 The one sentence of prose is quite bad. This may be intentional, of course. But it's still just one sentence.
Images: 0 It has no images.
Miscellaneous: 4 My personal feeling is that this may find itself on the VFD queue very quickly.
Final Score: 13

Endnotes: The article's single sentence seems to be misspelled and incoherent. This may of course be intentional -- ie, it may be written in the manner of someone who is illiterate in order to get a chuckle -- but for me, personally, it was not successful.

In my opinion this is not an article. It tells no good lies about what a "given name" is, how the Western tradition of using given names and surnames came to be, what other cultures do about it, how Robin Givens ties into the concept, or, indeed, much of anything. If this is to become an article it needs actual writing in it. That means sentences, often arranged artfully in paragraphs. Just my opinion, of course.

The lists of names are not interesting to this reader. They are just names. If you're going to list names, why not make them funny?

  • Abernethy Flusterpot, famous English finch-molester
  • Lucinda Brastrap, Victorian-era floozy and makeout artiste
  • Nikolas Kazaam, Greek nipple-dancer
  • Lew Neward, the Madman of Mohegan
  • Thor Sweethammer, Norwegian gigolo
  • Howarya Duen, Egyptian Walmart greeter
  • Faith Weakpiddle, bladder surgeon and Baptist preacher

Just make some stuff up.

  • Ima Hyden, agoraphobe and closet dweller
  • Britney Spaniel, Britney Spears' minge (her boobs are named Balthazar and Flopsy)
  • Dina Mitre, terrorist and Bishop of East Anglia

But give the article some hard work. Good luck. ----OEJ 01:43, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
